Toadies headlined a sold-out show at Stubb’s recently. The Texas alt-rockers have been icons of their scene and of this state since their now-classic debut, Rubbberneck, spawned such ’90s hits as “Possum Kingdom” and “Tyler.” The quartet, led by Vaden Todd Lewis, played those songs, as well as some new tracks from the band’s upcoming album Play. Rock. Music., expected out this summer. Among the new songs played was “Rattler’s Revival,” which included live horn backing provided by local afrobeat big band Hard Proof. Hearing trumpet and saxophone behind the Toadies patented rough-edged alternative rock was an unexpected change of pace. Read our full review of the concert here.
