Austin promoters Knuckle Rumbler are bringing Brooklyn emcee and Black Star collaborator Talib Kweli to Mohawk in Austin on Friday, Oct. 21. Kweli is currently on tour in support of his latest release, Gutter Rainbows. Oakland based rapper G-Eazy will be co-headlining while local support will come from Phranchyze and Kid Slyce. The best part? We have two pairs of tickets to give to a couple of our lucky Red River Noise readers.
For those of you know don’t know, Kweli is an underground rapper who came up in the mid ’90s with Cincinnati-based producer DJ Hi-Tek. Shortly thereafter, Kweli and fellow Brooklyn rapper Mos Def collaborated to make what backpackers and hip hop media deem a hip hop classic, the Black Star album.
The giveaway will be conducted as a raffle on Facebook. Just click LIKE every time you see a link to this post on our wall. We will pick the winners on Thursday, October 20. The winners will be notified via Facebook email and shared on our Facebook wall.Good luck!
Despite his full catalog, most will know Kweli from his various radio hits including “I Try” from his 2004 release, The Beautiful Struggle. Refresh your memory or get familiar here.
