More than twenty years running, The Flaming Lips are still on their game. Since their formation in Oklahoma back in 1983, the psychedelic indie rock group has issued countless hit albums and acquired a reputation for a must-see live show. Critics continue their praise for the group’s newest album, Embryonic, which was released back in October 2009.
The Flaming Lips recently announced new North American tour dates that are scheduled to start in March. The tour will support Embryonic, and stretches from New York City to Chicago. Along with tour dates, they’re also set to release Heady Nuggs: The First 5 Warner Bros. Records 1992 – 2002 on April 16. The set includes complete track-listings from Hit To Death In The Future Head (1992), Transmissions From The Satellite Heart (1993), Clouds Taste Metallic (1995), The Soft Bulletin (1990), and Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots (2002). Two limited edition vinyl-only box sets will be available: standard, and “Special Limited Edition,” that includes the five discs pressed on colored vinyl, available only through their official online store. Get yours fast, though… both will probably sell out quick.
