Former Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis announced this week the release of her new upcoming album, The Voyager. Lewis’s third solo album, and first in six years, will be available on July 29 via Warner Bros Records. According to the official press release, The Voyager is “Lewis’s most deeply personal album to date, documenting her struggle to cope following the death of her estranged father in 2010 and the subsequent break-up of Rilo Kiley.” The release also lists the album’s producers which include Ryan Adams, Beck, and Lewis’ longtime collaborator, Johnathan Rice.
Lewis’s previous solo releases include 2006′s Rabbit Fur Coat (with The Watson Twins) and 2008′s Acid Tongue. In 2010, she formed the duo Jenny and Johnny with Johnathan Rice and released their debut I’m Having Fun Now. In 2013, Lewis made her debut as a film composer and music supervisor for the drama Very Good Girls starring Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen.
Lewis will kick off a summer tour in support of The Voyager beginning May 21 with an Austin stop at both weekends of ACL Fest in October.
