Osaka, Japan’s favorite female punk trio Shonen Knife announced they will release their upcoming studio album Overdrive on Apr. 16 via Good Charamel Records. Shonen Knife will be doing extensive touring to support Overdrive’s release including dates in Europe and Japan with Sept. / Oct. appearances being planned for North America.
Shonen Knife was founded in 1981 by Naoko Yamano (guitar, lead vocals) and her sister, drummer Atsuko Yamano. While Atsuko and original bassist Michie Nakatani are no longer members, Naoko has carried the band on with only a few member changes without compromising the original sound or spirit of the band. Currently Naoko is performing with Ritsuko Taneda (bass, backing vocals) and
Emi Morimoto (drums, backing vocals).
