New York’s SKATERS have a very eventful springtime to look forward to. The trio will be releasing their debut Warner Bros. Records single, “I Wanna Dance (But I Don’t Know How)” b/w “Armed,” on April 9. SKATERS have announced their first tour in support of their first 7-inch single. Their debut full-length will also be released by Warner Bros. Records this summer. While their first headlining tour won’t begin until April, you can check them out when SKATERS perform at South by Southwest in just a few weeks.
SKATERS was formed in 2012 by Michael Ian Cummings and Noah Rubin. The duo spent a year trading demos between Los Angeles and London with guitarist Joshua Hubbard. SKATERS came together in the “city that never sleeps,” in a Chinatown loft where they created their own art zine, YONKS. They also recorded their debut EP, Schemers, which was given as a free download on the band’s website. The EP drew immediate critical praise which made SKATERS a band to look out for in 2013.
