A Brooklyn math teacher is releasing his movie Smoikel’s Twilight based on the Twilight Saga. Director Keith Black was inspired by the Twilight series that became a teen sensation. Being a math teacher he’s surrounded by pop culture from a teen’s perspective and became inspired to create his own version of Twilight.
Shmoikel’s Twilight, a mockumentary or spoof of the Twilight films tells a story about a a Brooklyn math teacher who brings to light his contribution as writer, director, and star of Shmoikel’s Twilight, a huge budget film shot a year before the infamous movie Twilight began production. Shmoikel’s Twilight also tells a story about the version of the the Brooklyn math teacher’s movie where the Twilight Saga was interpreted differently by having a nice Jewish vampire boy from Brooklyn.
Director and creator of Shmoikel’s Twilight, Keith Black (Get the Script to Woody Allen) is in fact a Brooklyn math teacher who writes, produces, acts, and directs films during his summer breaks. His work has included Academy Award Winning actor such as Mickey Rooney with film popularity on cable TV, Showtime, and the big screen. In Shmoike’s Twilight Black stars in his own film with up-and-coming actress Laura McDonald playing Kristen Stewart’s character from the Twilight films.
The film, Shmoikel’s Twilight is set to release the same day as the final film of the Twilight series, November 16. The short film can be seen online at Shmoikel’sTwilight.com or in select theaters. Check out the trailer below.
