Garage-punk trio Le Butcherettes cannot, and will not be stopped. From opening for The Dead Weather and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, to performing alongside rock heavyweights Deftones and The Dillinger Escape Plan, the group has made a strong following for themselves. Currently, the trio is working on a followup to last year’s Sin Sin Sin. Omar Rodriguez Lopez, who produced the band’s well-received debut, will be reprising his role as producer and bassist for the band’s sophomore album.
Le Butcherettes’ charismatic, leading lady, Teri Gender Bender, has been keeping herself busy; along with the group’s sophomore album, and making a brief cameo in labelmates Zechs Marquise’s music video for “Everlasting Beacon of Light,” the soft-spoken songstress recently performed an enthralling live acoustic set for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series. Bender will rejoin the rest of the group for this year’s Coachella festival on both Sundays, April 15 and 22 in Indio, CA. Lopez will be accompanying the group for these performances as well.
Watch Teri perform acoustic versions of “I’m Getting Sick of You” and “New York” for NPR below.
