Oriol Riverola, best known by his stage name John Talabot, is a Spanish DJ, producer and electronic musician. Already his debut My Old School (which is meant literally by the way) on Permanent Vacation in 2009 and shortly after that the single “Sunshine”, which he put out on his own Hivern Disc imprint, made him one of the most promising musicians of the Spanish electronic scene. And those two releases also already set the mark for John Talabot’s unparalleled music: raw, loopy, heavy on the kick drum, sample based, moderate on the tempo, distorted on the drums and light years away from the clean and ever revolving house sound of today.
On Thursday, Apr. 23, John Talabot will be joined by fellow Spanish DJ/producer Marc Piñol for a big show at Vulcan Gas Company. They will be joined by special guests Learning Secrets from Austin. The best part? We have two tickets to giveaway to one of our lucky Red River Noise readers.
The giveaway will be conducted as a raffle from our email list. Just click “enter the drawing” below after submitting your full name and email address. Only submissions with full names will be officially entered. We will pick the winner from these submissions before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 22, the day before the show. The winner will be notified via email from Red River Noise.
Vulcan Gas Company is located at 418 E. 6th Street. All ages welcome. Doors at 10 p.m. Advance tickets for this show are available online here.
