Chicago-based hip-hop/jazz fusionists Sidewalk Chalk are currently on their Carry The Weight Tour in support of their latest album, Shoulder Season. Austinites get excited as the tour will make a stop on Saturday night at Stubb’s (indoor). To add even more soul to the evening, Dallas-based funk fusion band The Funky Knuckles are scheduled to open the show.
Sidewalk Chalk’s third album, Shoulder Season, was compiled from seven live performances across the U.S. The album, which is also comes with a live DVD, captures the group’s unique arrangement that allows the eight member group to incorporate various genres seamlessly. Their live performance is one to look forward to as Sidewalk Chalk is composed of an MC, a female vocalist, a trio of keys, bass, drums, a horn section with trombone and trumpet, and a tap-dancer.
For fans of neo-soul groups like Hiatus Kaiyote, The Brand New Heavies or even local faves KP And The Boom Boom, there is no better concert choice this weekend.
Stubb’s is located at 801 Red River. Doors open at 9 p.m. All ages are welcome. Advance tickets for this event are available for purchase online here.
