Friday, Aug. 21, Austin-based Latin DJ collective Peligrosa will take over the patio of Empire Control Room & Garage as they always do every first Friday. While the fellas from Peligrosa often have a special guest here and there, this month’s throw down is a big one as Houston’s Bombón crew joins the party. The night will serve as the EP release for the new Bombón EP being released the same day via Discos Peligrosa.
Founded in 2010, Bombón is Houston’s answer to Peligrosa. Like their Austin counterparts, Bombón hosts their own monthly dance party in Houston and features a talented membership of DJs who bring their own unique skill sets and Latin flavors to the turn table.
The Bombón crew is lead by first lady DJ Gracie Chavez and composed of Navó, OG Bobby Trill, Panchitron, Principe Q and La Comadre Mel. Some of you real electro-cumbia heads may know Principe Q from Royal Highness, which partners him with Peligrosa’s own King Louie (Austin). The crew also features live percussionists and party photographers to accompany their sets, including Ilya Janos, Cassio Duarte and Chappy Luna of The Suffers when available.
Limited copies of the new Bombón EP will be available Friday at Empire Control Room & Garage while supplies last. Digital copies will be available online at discospeligrosa.com.
Long story short: You won’t want to miss Texas’ two biggest and baddest Latin DJ collectives throw down together in celebration of the latest EP to be added to your collection.
Empire Control Room & Garage is located at 606 E. 7th Street. Doors open at 10 p.m. Event will be on the patio stage. 18+ are welcome. $5 cover. Visit the Facebook event page here.
