Saturday, May 16, New Orleans bilingual, indie-folk rockers Sweet Crude make a headlining Austin tour stop at Mohawk. They will be joined by Austin’s psych-folk faves Calliope Musicals, a headliner in their own right. Indie-pop outfit Slomo Drags open the show. You don’t want a little rain to keep you from missing this one.
Sweet Crude formed in spring of 2013. The 7-piece band have created a unique sound that sets Louisiana’s native French dialect to non-traditional Cajun music, incorporating 4-part harmonies, tribal rhythms, and pop hooks to their brand of indie rock. In just a short time, the group has garnered the 2014 Big Easy Award for “Best Emerging Artist” and is currently nominated for “Best Rock Band” at the 2015 Best of the Beat Awards. They are performing in support of their latest EP, Super Vilaine.
Mohawk is located at 912 Red River. Doors open at 9 p.m. All ages welcome. $7 cover for 21+. $9 cover for minors. Concert will be on the indoor stage. Visit the Facebook event page here.
