Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alison May is on tour with alt-folk artist Jackson Emmer in support of her latest psych-folk EP, Dusk Interval, which she released on Tuesday. The tour makes an Austin stop this week on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Spider House Ballroom. Her supporting cast for Thursday’s show will include Austin-based singer-songwriters Devin James Fry and Adam Torres.
No stranger to Austin, the Waxahachie born artist used to call The Live Music Capital home before relocating to Oakland in 2012. She released her debut album Ernest Keep in 2013 and followed that up with the release of Love/Dark this past July via Misery Loves Company.
May’s newly released Dusk Interval serves as more proof that she has a knack for storytelling and isn’t afraid to share her emotions with the world. She sites her inspirations as being Sixto Rodriguez, Tracy Chapman and Nick Drake. If they listened to Dusk Interval and May’s previous LPs, they’d be fans of hers.
Spider House Ballroom is located at 2906 Fruth Street. Doors open at 8 p.m. Show at 9 p.m. All ages are welcome. $7 cover.
