You know what they say about Mardi Gras: Let the good times roll. Good and bad times constantly roll in the fictional town of Bon Temps—which means “good times” in French—in cable network HBO’s True Blood.
The supernatural drama, based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries books by Charlaine Harris, centers on Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a waitress who can read other people’s minds, and adventures unfold when she meets Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a 173-year-old vampire who decides to return to his former residence in Bon Temps, Louisiana.
In the True Blood universe, humans and vampires (along with other supernatural creatures) are able to co-exist because of a creation of synthetic blood created by Japanese scientists. Vampires who already walked among humans “came out of the coffin” since they no longer need to feed on human blood. However, this event has also created conflict amongst the vampires; some believe that co-existing with humans is impossible because it is not in the vampires’ nature.
