As a resident of “the burbs” or “South Dallas” as my friends say, I can tell you that opportunities to see any Red River (ish) live bands in our backyard are few and far between. Imagine my excitement when my sister and ACC student Alison Morales alerted me of her Hey Surburbia! Social benefit showcase happening today at Hanover’s in Pflugerville. All proceeds will benefit the Austin’s Children Center.
The lineup for the Hey Suburbia Social includes local bands from a variety of genres, including punk favs The Beat Dolls and indie-pop band Mobley. Melodic alt-rock trio Blank Slate co-headline. Prometheus Tree and SP_ACES open.
In addition to a quality lineup, she managed to conjure up some great raffle prizes and a new Martin guitar for auction. Don’t play an instrument? Pluckers, Freebirds and Starbucks have all graciously donated gift cards to the cause.
Hanover’s is located at 108 E. Main Street in Pflugerville. Event happens from 3 p.m to 8 p.m. No cover. 21+ welcome. Donations strongly encouraged and appreciated. For set times and photos of the raffle prizes, visit the Facebook event page here.
