A combination of the blues, spiked eggnog and holiday spirits will help to entertain a weekly party of picking and grinning at Austin’s most recently anointed music venue, Holy Mountain.
This month, Austin-based songstress Emily Bell and New Braunfels-raised singer-songwriter Jonny Burke launched the first annual winter-music themed residency, WinterCamp. As a sister-series to Bell’s popular SummerCamp this past August, the collaboration between the two artists, as well as friends, presents a weekly performance each Tuesday of December to help Austinites “kick off their boots and warm their soul with brandy, hot beverages, fire and great music.”
Aside from the creative environment and celebration, WinterCamp proceeds will help benefit the Toys for Tots charity foundation. All campers (attendees) are encouraged to bring new/used toys or canned goods for donation. Otherwise, ticket prices will be $5 at the door.
The event is presented by Bird’s Barbershop, Zappy Springs Photo Booths, Juice Consulting and Eye in the Sky Collective, and will take place between 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The two last shows include Bell and Burke with guests Elijah Ford and the Bloom on Dec. 18, and Bell and Burke inviting Santa Claus and an icy-hot consortium of songwriters for a song swap on Christmas Day.
