On Saturday, June 23, Club Deville will be presenting SONOPSYCH featuring the best in Austin Psychedelia with an impressive lineup that includes: Flemish Giants, My Education and The Dry Season. This colorful array of musicians will paint several styles including post-psychedelic, classical and ambient.
Showcase openers The Dry Season will take you on a head trip with their powerful and dark ambience of sound. The neo-psychedelic band paints colorful soundscapes of haunting vocals, high emotion and chaos. The release of their full length self-titled album Dry Season, has continued to receive rave reviews from local and national critics, making them a must see band and a perfect appetizer for SONOPSYCH.
With a noise and psych-pop appeal, Flemish Giants have brought back the ’90s fuzz. They include members from rockers Young Heartattack and Pocket Symphonies and have recently cut an album by Chris “Frenchie” Smith (…and you will know us by the Trail of Dead, Dandy Warhols, Built to Spill, Meat Puppets). Capturing a by-gone sound of Austin’s Psychedelic past, Flemish Giant influences a heavy sound all their own.
Headlining are Texas instrumentalists My Education have orchestrated a musical storm of violas,
crashing rhythm sections, horns and strings. For the past ten years Texas Instrumentalists have used their cinematic sound on the silver screen and collaborated with genres seemingly unlikely. My Education has five full-length albums under their belt along with a 12”inch vinyl release with hip-hop duo, Dalek and underground bands like Kinski, Pelican, Red Sparowes and A Place to Bury Strangers.
