Three piece indie-pop band, Shimmering Stars, hails from Vancouver, British Columbia. The band formed in 2010 after lead vocalist, Rory McClure, became inspired by old footage of the Everly Brothers, and recorded a few demos in his parent’s garage. Shimmering Stars has kept the influence of the music from the decades of ’50s and ’60s, which is apparent when you listen to the band’s lead single, “I’m Gonna Try,” off the album, Violent Hearts.
After only a year, Shimmering Stars is set to release their debut full length album, Violent Hearts, on September 13 on Hardly Art along with Almost Musique. Violent Hearts will capture the classic pop sound heard in ’50s and ’60s from the likes of Phil Spector and Bo Diddley, while putting a modern indie twist on it. If you’re a fan of retro and like the modern, be sure to pick up Violent Hearts from Shimmering Stars.
