Summertime is here and so is Transmission’s Adi Anand’s “First Friday Frolic” showcase at Club de Ville. This month, the First Friday Frolic will be paying tribute to Caravan Interactive. The company, based out of both Austin and Brooklyn, specializes in developing highly interactive iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry applications. Some of their noteworthy clients include Women’s Wear Daily, Human Right Watch International Film Festival, Maroon 5, Men’s Health Magazine, and L’Oréal Redken.
As always, the ‘Frolic showcases two unsigned, up-and-coming Austin based bands. This Friday’s opener Luison takes the stage at 6:00pm. Luison brings a fresh voice in Latin music. Blending cha-cha-cha, merengue and hip hop.
The evening’s headliner is Austin’s own Afrofreque. Known for being one of Austin’s favorite party bands, Afrofreque fuses elements of hip hop, funk, Afrobeat and soul. Attendees will nod their heads to the groove and conscious lyrics. Afrofreque perform at 7:00pm.
First Friday Frolic not only features the best in local music but also this month, Mmmpanadas will have some tasty treats for sale in the Club de Ville parking lot – check out their menu here. The brainchild of husband-and-wife team Cody and Kristen Fields, Mmmpanadas began as a truck business in 2007. Now, their gourmet empanadas can be found in local bars, coffee shops and in the Club de Ville parking lot Friday evening.
