Our editor-in-chief, the meathead that he is, doesn’t like most indie bands. He prefers heavier stuff. But through some miracle, he loved MoTel Aviv when the post-punk revivalists played our Free Week showcase. Maybe it was their frontman’s swagger and Smiths-esque voice, or perhaps the bass player’s effortless rhythm while keeping the low end thumping, or the tight danceable drum beats and angular guitar riffs, but this band made a lot of new fans on this night.
You have a chance to catch MoTel Aviv this Friday at Beauty Bar in Austin. It’s the quartet’s CD release party for their debut album, Post-Modern Nation. Don’t miss it if you’re into dancing and feeling sexy on a Friday night.
