As a band, East Cameron Folkcore is a fairly new concoction, though this mini-orchestra is composed of Austin music veterans who’ve been making toes tap and heads bang for years.
Founded by Jesse Moore while he was a member of the grunge/blues rock quartet Bankrupt and the Borrowers, the project began as an outlet for Moore to explore his more folk-ish side. After the tragic death of Borrowers bandmate Jon Pettis, Moore decided to turn this side project into his main focus, as a tribute to Pettis.
Now featuring members of El Pan, Clyde and Clem’s Whiskey Business, Bridge Farmers and more, East Cameron Folkcore has toured the southeast extensively in the past year, recording a debut album along the way. The band will celebrate the release of its debut, Sound & Fury: Songs in the Key of Love and Death, with a two-night stand this weekend at the Blue Theatre in East Austin. More details here.
Red River Noise was on hand to capture Folkcore’s Free Week 2011 performance. This video was recorded live at the Mohawk in Austin, Texas. Camera operators: AJ Miranda and Scott Thomas. Video editor: AJ Miranda. We recommend watching this in 720p mode.
