Before becoming Mynabirds, Laura Burhenn recorded music as a solo artist and as half of the duo, Georgie James. When Georgie James split, however, Burhenn began a new project and returned to her roots in soul, gospel and country music. She joined singer-songwriter/produces Richard Swift and several other guests to come up with Mynabirds’ debut release, What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood, in 2009.
Mynabirds will be touring alongside Bright Eyes in their spring tour, and front woman Burhenn will join the headlining band in their performance. The group has released a mini tour documentary/music video featuring “LA Rain” from the 2009 album, which you can watch here. They’ve also announced a sophomore album in the works that they’ll record later this year in September.
