Cut Copy is an ’80s-inspired electro-pop group based out of Melbourne, Australia. They started out in 2001 as a solo project, when songwriter, DJ and producer Dan Whitford released his debut EP, I Thought of Numbers. Soon after, bassist and guitarist Tim Hoey and drummer Mitchell Scott joined Whitford to add the synth sound present on Cut Copy’s first full-length, Bright Like Neon Love, that came out in 2004. The band has since added bassist Ben Browning and released two more studio albums including their newest LP, Zonoscope.
The band kicked off their spring U.S. tour last weekend in support of Zonoscope’s recent release. They’ll perform here in Austin April 21 and 22, both at Stubb’s. Listen to “Need You Now” (Architecture in Helsinki version) from the album below and download here.
