The Wooden Birds will be releasing their second album, Two Matchsticks, on June 7. The new LP, written, and produced by Andrew Kenny, founder and frontman of American Analog Set and and collaborator with Broken Social Scene. Two Matchsticks was mixed at Austin’s Resonate Studio with producer Louie Lino (Nada Surf), and also features performances by Ben Gibbard, members of Ola Podrida, and Wooden Birds touring members Matt Pond and Leslie Sisson.
The new record promises fans with a more upbeat perspective than The Wooden Bird’s previous efforts. After studying the band’s strengths, the new record promises fans an even more driven, upbeat, and powerful album in comparison from their debut album.
Alongside the release of their new album, The Wooden Birds will also be performing at SXSW in March. Showcased will be the music from the band’s new album, Two Matchsticks, music from their debut album, Magnolia, and some tracks from American Analog Set gems.
In addition to all of The Wooden Bird’s up and coming endeavors, Daytrotter will be posting an intimate Wooden Bird session in early March.
