Austin event and concert promoter Knuckle Rumbler (KR) is best known for hip hop concerts, mash-up DJ battles and popular concert after-parties. Now the KR team is going indie and going local with this Thursday’s showcase at The Ghost Room featuring four of Austin’s best musical acts.
Before the headliners take the stage, KR is treating you to three bands who are worth your attention. Eets Feets open the night at 9:00pm with some really cool surf rock. Arrive early so you can not only catch Eets Feets but also be one of the first one hundred people through the door to enjoy a free adult beverage.
The young self-proclaimed Led Zeppelin descendants The Daze, follow Eets Feets with a classic sound inspired by the sixties rock and roll greats. The Daze have been featured on the Austin Music compilation CD and are currently performing shows in support of their latest album Straightjacket Hymns.
Before the headliner takes the stage, Rayon Beach will be bringing their own style of psychedelic-fuzz rock from another dimension (probably the ’60s) to the stage. The Austin based trio’s latest release The Memory Teeth is an underrated gem of a record.
Headlining the showcase is none other than Shapes Have Fangs. This Austin bare bones indie quartet consists of brothers Skyler and Evan McGlothlin, Dustin Coffey and Josh Willis. Your reformed hippie parents probably have old forty fives that sound just like Shapes Have Fangs, only not as cool. You may have seen the group perform at Austin Psych Fest, South By Southwest or countless shows along Red River. Watch the music video for their song “The Spectre” here:
The Ghost Room is located at 304 W. 4th Street. $5 cover. 21+ admitted. Visit the event page on Facebook here.
