After years of wandering the country, Jarrod Bramson finally found his inspiration in an unlikely place—the tiny town of Port Townsend nestled in the furthest reaches of Washington’s coast. The soon-to-be front man and songwriter eventually teamed up with violinist Emily Madden and Sasha Landis on drums to form what is now Solvents.
Solvents’ recently released its debut album, Forgive Yr Blood, which aims to evoke the small-town-folksy feeling that emanates from the group’s hometown. The album’s grainy vocals, compelling rhythms and sinuous strokes of Madden’s violin successfully capture the essence of a sentiment only found in such isolation.
The self-proclaimed “folk-art-rock-pop group” premiered its video for single “We Were Guests Here,” this week, and Forgive Yr Blood is on shelves now through Bee Resin Records. The group is currently planning a Spring 2011 tour with dates yet to be announced.
