Sleepy Sun is a collective of California musicians transported from a different era in rock, when psychedelic rock bands were in their golden years. With spacey vocals, eerie guitar feedback and foot stomping-hand clapping rhythms, Sleep Sun is sure to be an acid rock-indie favorite amongst bloggers and taste-makers alike, especially after having opened for Autolux and Mudhoney.
Touring to support their second full-length release, Fever, Sleepy Sun is out to prove that their live sets are as good, if not better than their records. Vocalists Bret Constantino and Rachel Fannon are a perfect compliment to each other. It is rare combination for a psychedelic band not heard since the genre’s late sixties, early seventies heyday. Fans of Pink Floyd, or even of local psych-rockers The Boxing Lesson, will love Sleepy Sun. Check out their music video for their single “Open Eyes” off Fever.
The Parish is located at 214-C East 6th St. Doors open at 9 p.m. All ages are welcome. Advance tickets are available for this show here. Tickets at the door will be $12 on the day of the show.
