“Cobra Starship’s not just a band; we’re a motherfucking gang.”
That was probably the most obnoxious line of the entire YouTube rant, but a concert video uploaded by a fan at Starship’s recent Kansas City show is causing a stir because of the lead singer’s profanity-laced tirade against hecklers.
Now, we’re not blind supportas of Gabe Saporta, but the dude has a point: Just because you’re in a band on stage doesn’t mean you’re not prone to the same emotional highs and lows of anyone in the audience. And why buy a concert ticket just to spend the whole show talking shit?
So Saporta addressed his hecklers with lines like, “I have so many brothers and sisters here who will pound your ass to the pavement,” and the ridiculous,”Go home, go look at pictures of your mom and jack off.”
Saporta wrote a blog post to address the issue. But honestly, we think Saporta talking about it will only make it a bigger deal. If hecklers know they can give him a rise enough for him to rant and blog, they’ll keep heckling harder. Our advice to you, Mr. Saporta: Give it up, give it up, don’t fall for the same things.
