One-Eyed Doll is one of Austin’s best-kept rock-music secrets, combining a sound that mixes glam, metal and punk influence with a live show that borders on performance art. More than most bands, a One-Eyed Doll show is an experience: slapping fans, spitting water at people, diving into the crowd mid-song and fearlessly crashing into the drum kit.
Led by the uber-charismatic Kimberly Freeman, the band has built up a reputation for above-average fan appreciation; they stick around after a grueling show and sign every piece of merch and give hugs to whoever’s asking. Their fans are so loyal and rabid that they make homemade music videos and homemade merch. But friend of the band and hardcore fan DavidJr.com took the love up a notch and spent a year filming the band on-stage and off for a feature-length documentary.
