A good metalcore show is hard to come by in Austin, so when one of this magnitude swings through town, the excitement is through the roof. The line for August Burns Red’s “Leveler” Tour stretched out the front door and wound all the way to the back of the building, and these eagerly awaiting fans were not disappointed. The show opened up with Fire From the Gods, an Austin based hardcore band that gave all Austin scenesters hope that this isn’t just an indie town. Next up was letlive, a post-hardcore band with a lead singer who might be clinically insane, followed by Texas in July, one of the youngest yet hardest bands on the Equal Vision Records roster. Silverstein, who’s always known for putting on a consistently awesome show played next and gave the crowd a taste of their new album, Short Songs, which they released this week. And finally August Burns Red closed up the show. The band has played Austin many times before time, this night was one of their most powerful and captivating performances yet.
August Burns Red performed at Emo’s in Austin on January 28, 2012.
