Following up a Grammy-nominated album is no easy job, but alt-rock outfit Cage the Elephant seem to be up to the task. The group officially announced the release of their upcoming fourth album, Tell Me I’m Pretty via RCA Records last week.
According to the official press release, the album will drop Dec. 18, and features a new approach to recording. The release explains that the first take of each song made it on to the album and was more of a stylistic choice, focused on “capturing the band’s raw and frenetic onstage energy.”
Along with an unlikely recording choice, the record was produced by a seemingly unrelated person – The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. It should be interesting to see how Auerbach approaches Cage the Elephant’s lighter indie sound on Tell Me I’m Pretty. No word yet on whether or not there will be any of The Black Keys’ signature brand of classic rock meets funk – but we’ll just have to wait and see.
