Multi-platinum Icelandic indie group Of Monsters and Men continue to build their empire with their latest video which centers on a forbidden romance — “Harold and Maude” style. The video for “Empire,” shot by Tabitha Delholm (whose credits include music videos for Florence and The Machine, Jessie J, Tïesto, and HAIM) features models Erika Linder and Ingmari Lamy in a May-December relationship.
According to the official press release, Delholm wanted to move away from conventional stories about women and age. “The older character actually has the more youthful, liberated spirit which inspires the jaded youngster. It’s a twist on the conventions of age that is often borne out in real life,” Delholm says.
“Empire” is the third single from Beneath the Skin, the band’s follow-up to 2011’s My Head Is An Animal — a debut album that has since sold 2 million copies and had a quadruple platinum single in “Little Talks.” Along with “Crystals,” another single from Beneath, being featured in a trailer for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, Of Monsters and Men is out on tour with upcoming stops in Texas — including 2 performances at this year’s Austin City Limits Festival.
