Gary Clark, Jr., the Grammy Award-winning guitarist, singer, songwriter and Austinite, has announced the release of his second full length album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim on Warner Bros. Records.
The follow-up to 2012’s Blak And Blu (his first full length studio album), and 2014’s Gary Clark Jr. LIVE features Clark as more than a performer — he wrote, produced, and arranged it. He also plays the majority of the instruments featured on Sonny Boy Slim. However, Clark has some help from soundmen Bharath “Cheex” Ramanat and Jason Sciba, who played additional instruments and recorded the record, and his sisters Shawn and Savannah Clark who contributed with backup vocals.
Along with appearances at ACL and Lollapalooza, Clark will be touring with Foo Fighters in the fall as well as headlining a fall/spring tour. The Story of Sonny Boy Slim is available to pre-order online and comes with instant downloads for two tracks, “The Healing” and “Grinder.” Additionally, those who purchase a ticket to his headline dates — not his festival spots or Foo Fighters tour dates — will receive a standard digital download of the album via an email on September 11 (the album’s release date) with instructions.
