Alright all you Astro Zombies, Braineaters and Teenagers from Mars – The Crooner from the Crypt is back!
Glenn Danzig, the deviant dark lord of horror punk and heavy metal blues is embarking on a tour this summer. If you’re in Texas – you’re in luck. But if you’re in Austin, get ready to do some driving.
Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio are all on Danzig’s itinerary, but unfortunately, Austin has been left out. Why, Danzig, why? Maybe 2011’s much ballyhooed Fun Fun Fun incident left him with a bad taste, but that can’t be it – he’s been in Austin since then, playing two well-received sets with his namesake band and the reunited Samhain at last year’s Housecore Horror Film Festival.
Danzig’s playing Houston at the Bayou Music Center on July 14; San Antonio at the Aztec Theatre on July 15; and Dallas at the South Side Ballroom on July 17.
Danzig hasn’t released an album since 2010’s Deth Red Sabaoth, but there’s an as-of-yet unnamed album set for a fall release, plus a much anticipated album of covers – tentatively titled Skeletons – due out later this year. Will ex-Misfits guitar player Doyle join him on stage again for more Misfits songs? Hopefully, and with Glenn Danzig donning Misfits face-paint for the first time in over 30 years, I’d put good money on it.
