This past Friday, July 11, Midnight Masses premiered their new music video for their song “Broken Mirror.” The single features guest vocals from Haley Dekle of Dirty Projectors. The single comes off of their upcoming album Departures, which is set for a July 22 release via Superball Music. Departures will feature guest contributions from Isaiah “Ikey” Owens (The Mars Volta), Peter Hale (Here We Go Magic), Ian Longwell (Santigold), Jaleel Bunton (TV On The Radio), Mauro Refosco (Atoms For Peace) and Jamie Miller (…Trail of Dead).
Midnight Masses formed in 2008 by …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead’s Autry Fulbright and Jason Reece shortly after the death of Autry’s father. A collective of mostly Brooklyn-based musicians, Midnight Masses released their debut EP Rapture Ready, I Gazed at the Body in 2009. In 2013 Autry rekindled the band after an indefinite hiatus following the death of Gerrard Smith of TV On The Radio, whom the band was originally working with on Departures.
Those in Austin can see Midnight Masses celebrate the release of Departures at Hotel Vegas with Gang Sign and Gospel Truth on July 25. Midnight Masses will also be performing at Holy Mountain on Aug. 7 with Ringo Death Starr.
