Many will recognize Los Angeles-based soul songstress Jessica Childress from the popular NBC program, The Voice. Childress was a member of Team Usher and got her crowning moment on the show when co-host Adam Levine (Maroon 5) shouted “I wanna marry her!” for all the show’s viewers to hear. While she wasn’t the show’s final winner, Childress is “winning” now as she is getting her new neo-soul career started.
Childress is currently on tour and will be here in Austin for South by Southwest (SXSW) with a week full of performances to showcase her vintage soul sound. Fans of NAKIA, Latasha Lee and/or Black Joe Lewis will want to take a listen. She will be performing in support of her debut EP, Don’t Forget My Name, released Feb. 4 via Swing House Quality Recordings. See her full performance schedule below.
