After nearly three decades, the new wave, electro-pop music trailblazers, Spandau Ballet, are performing live and screening the world premiere of their documentary Soul Boys of the Western World at South by Southwest on Mar. 12. Today the group was added to line up of the official SXSW Tribute to Lou Reed on Mar. 14 at Paramount Theatre.

Director George Hencken chronicles the five original members – Tony Hadley, John Keeble, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp and Steve Norman, detailing their lives, music and their connection as a band. The documentary captures the journey of Spandau Ballet as the group first began as London working-class musicians to creating a globally iconic music Empire in the ’80s. (Ahh, haha, ha, ahhh.)

Soul Boys of the Western World is screening at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 12 at the Paramount Theatre (713 Congress Ave).  The iconic ’80s group will stage their first performance after 28 years at the famed Vulcan Gas Company (The Vulcan, (418 E 6th St) on Mar. 12. The legendary building is reopening after 44 years of being closed. For more details in updates visit the band’s official website.
