British Columbian Crystal Dorval’s new solo project, White Poppy, released her debut self-titled full-length yesterday through Not Not Fun Records. This record was initially recorded onto a four-track cassette. The end result was well worth the wait after being a work in progress for over a year. White Poppy is a gorgeous, experimental exploration of washed out psychedelic melodies, fuzzy guitars and floating vocals. Following the album release, White Poppy will embark on a West coast tour starting this fall.
White Poppy has been evolving into fresh forms the past couple of years and last winter, she ventured to The Noise Floor Recording Studio to mastermind and mix the 4-track tapes she had been creating. These tapes turned into what are the ten gems of delirious, dream-gaze that make up White Poppy.
