Last night, Aug. 20, country/pop superstar Taylor Swift invited indie darlings Tegan and Sara to her show at Staples Center in Los Angeles to join her on stage and perform their hit single, “Closer,” together in front of a sold out crowd.”Closer is the first single off Tegan and Sara’s seventh studio album, Heartthrob. Tegan Quin and Sara Quin were born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1980. They have been playing musical instruments (guitar, keyboards) and writing songs singe they were teens. It was after their 1999 release Under Feet Like Ours that they caught their first break when Neil Young’s manager, Elliot Roberts, signed them to his Vapor Records label.
