June seems to be the month of movies that bring warmth to summer and at least they’re being put on by people who know movies. Do512 and Alamo Drafthouse have joined forces to bring Austin Sound & Cinema: Music & Movies to the Long Center from June 5 through August 21.
Alamo Drafthouse’s huge inflatable screen adds outdoor fun as people of all ages are welcomed to watch movies on the lawn. The best part about Sound & Cinema is that it’s FREE and open to the public. What’s an event in Austin without music? Along with movies, bands will perform before each screening to pay tribute. Almost as if it’s a show before a show.
A huge sponsor of the event is Aquasana, an Austin based water filtration system that will be handing out free, fresh filtered water at every event. Favorite food trucks such as Whole Foods, Frank and Blue Ox BBQ will be on site selling their products at 7pm. For the adults, adults beer, wine and Deep Eddy specialty cocktails will be available for purchase.
All films will be on the lawn at the Long Center. Music begins at 8pm and each film will begin screening after sundown. The Long Center is located at 701 W. Riverside Drive.
