Austin Pysch Fest Spotlight: Holydrug Couple

Apr 4, 2013 by Eli Watson

Holydrug CoupleDream-pop chord progressions, mid-tempo drums and psychedelic rock-length songs, music duo Holydrug Couple will be bringing their brand of way-out-there trip rock to this year’s Austin Psych Fest.

Featuring Ives Sepulveda and Manuel Parra, this Chilean (yes, they are from Santiago, Chile) band specializes in mind-altering musical journeys. Nocturnal sounds provide an ethereal background for the two’s slightly heavy sound, with Sepulveda’s croon appearing and disappearing at whim.

The duo’s latest release is full length Noctuary, a 10 song album that shows the band retaining their psych sound, but with a more pop backbone a la Tame Impala.

Check out the rest of the group’s discography here, and catch them Saturday, April 27, at Austin Psych Fest.
