Acid Mothers Temple could very well be defined as the godfathers of extreme psychedelic rock. Their arrangements begin in silence, only to ascend into chaos as electronic loops wiggle through dissonance.
The acid-dipped brainchild of Kawabata Makoto, Acid Mothers Temple formed in 1995 and has undergone multiple changes since then.
There are several variations of Acid Mothers Temple: Acid Mothers Temple SWR, Acid Mothers Temple & the Cosmic Inferno and Acid Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. The latter will be at this year’s Austin Psych Fest.
The five-piece experimental Japanese band (Tabata Mitsuru, guitar/vocals; Mokoto, guitar/vocals; Tsuyama Atsushi, bass/vocals; Higashi Hiroshi, synthesizer/vocals; Shimura Koji, drums) began their “Space Resurrection” 2013 tour this past weekend, at Los Angeles’ very own LA Psych Fest.
