Local indie-electro favs, The Black and White Years, are making a come back with the release of their first album in three years. The album was produced by Danny Reisch at Good Danny’s on Modern Outsider Records, back in their home turf of Austin, Texas. In addition to their newly released album, they will be seen around town during South by Southwest (SXSW). In preparation for their album, they have released a new track “Just Like Old Times” which features Adrienne Butler, wife of lead singer Scott Butler. The track will also be featured on a new Mixtape hosted by the new music web publication YVYNYL (Why Vinyl).
The Black and White Years were first spotted during 2007 SXSW by Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads and Modern Lovers. He whisked them away and produced their first debuted LP in 2008 in his own personal studio in California, bringing in Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Duran Duran, SNL, Eric Clapton), to lay down the live drum tracks for the album. At the 2009 Austin Music Awards they won “Best Song of the Year” with “Power to Change” and they also took home three other titles that year including “Best Rock Band”, “Best Bassist” (John Aldridge), and “Best New Band.”
