This final episode takes a look at the world of blog pop. The web has levelled the music industry’s playing field and in turn has made it possible for music producers to take creative risks and scout different types of pop stars.
Don’t Call It #Blogpop features interviews with rising pop artists like AlunaGeorge, Charli XCX, Katy B, Teengirl Fantasy and Blood Diamonds. These artists have all taken advantage of what the web has to offer and made great popular music without the help of big budgets or studios.
These artists use online resources like SoundCloud streams and iTunes links to distribute their music content—which is slowly becoming the norm. This, in essence, creates a real connection to fans that other—possibly more manufactured acts—can’t always compete with. In this episode independent pop music creatives discuss how the Internet has changed pop music over the past few years and what they think is in store for Blog Pop.
