There isn’t a more perfect duo than a husband and wife working together to make modern anti-folk with a mix of indie rock tunes, and the band Matrimony proves it. Beginning their journey as musicians in 2009 from Charlotte, North Carolina, Matrimony is composed of Ashlee Hardee Brown and Jimmy Brown; later added family members Jordan Hardee and CJ Hardee.
Great things come for Matrimony, while recently signed with Columbia Records as well as recording their major label debut with producer Jay Joyce, which is expected for release sometime in 2013. Their hit “Obey Your Guns” made its debut on TV, in a new Chevy Malibu commercial that first premiered during the World Series. “Obey Your Guns” is available for purchase on iTunes, and will appear on their forthcoming release as well.
While busy, finishing their new album, Matriomony has been touring across the states. They’ve shared the stage with acts including Mumford & Sons, Modest Mouse and Nathaniel Rateliff, just to name a few. There seems to be no stopping this union of family and matrimony anytime soon.
