Earlier this month VH1 announced it selected Gary Clark Jr. as its official November “You Oughta Know” artist. Clark Jr. was the first live show I attended when I got to Austin over four years ago, and man, was it the right choice. The Austinite has been gaining more and more fans through the years with his stunning mix of blues, soul, funk and good old rock and roll.
VH1 has released the video for his single “Ain’t Messin’ Round” into Gung Ho Rotation, the highest rotation on the channel, which is given to only one artist at a time. The song is gaining massive speed, like his album Blak and Blu (Warner Bros.) released Oct. 22. The dude is busy as hell—every tour on his upcoming domestic tour is sold out, and Clark Jr. will perform on Good Morning America and The Late Show with David Letterman Nov. 21. An appearance on Austin City Limits is set to tape Nov. 30 with a 2013 airdate to be determined.
If you haven’t watched “Ain’t Messin’ Round” or aren’t familiar with Gary Clark Jr. at all—which, if so, needs to change now—feel free to watch the video below.
