Composed of 10 new songs, Banks continues where 2009’s Julian Plenti Lives… left off. Banks still has a knack for songwriting: Album opener “The Base” flourishes with luscious melodies and Banks’ melancholic vocal delivery, while the explosive “I’ll Sue You” gradually ascends into distorted guitar, and a somber Banks repeating, “I don’t need this anyway.” It’s a journey into the mind of a compelling artist, that’s hard to escape.
In support of the album, Banks will be hitting the road this November. He is scheduled to perform at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin. So if you like what you hear on Banks, make sure to check him out during the festival. He’ll be playing Saturday at 5:15 on the orange stage.
Banks played last night on the Late Show with David Letterman. Watch below in this eerie video that featured no audience members, due to Hurricane Sandy ravaging the east coast.
