2012 marks the 10 year anniversary for progressive-psych rockers, The Boxing Lesson. At the turn of a new era, the band is looking at taking the initiative cultivating and mastering a new refined sound with a new attitude. For 2012, the band has already announced a new full-length album for this upcoming May, released two new singles, and will be releasing a vinyl 7” on February 14.
In the last year, The Boxing Lesson has been working on a heavier rock sound with Chris “Frenchie” Smith (…Trail Of the Dead, Dandy Warhols, Meat Muppets) at The Bubble Studio in Austin, Texas. Though the psychedelic traits of their music are still present, their genre is beginning to lean towards a heavier rock style since working with Smith.
In 2012, The Boxing Lesson has already released two singles– “Health is the New Drug” and their most recent, “Better Daze”. The two singles reflect the band’s shift in focus and their attempts to remaster and redefine their style. Have a listen and download “Better Daze” below.
