Kingwood, Texas is not exactly an indie rock haven by any means, but the Houston suburb did give us the talented indie-pop band New York City Queens (NYCQ). The Regressive Records recording artist gives listeners music inspired from different eras with three different vocalists. Bloggers and Houston music peeps swear the band belongs in the same class as indie bands from Austin or either coast. We can drink to that.
NYCQ are set to kick off their next tour on Thursday, May 2, at Red 7. Supporting acts include a stacked bill of Austin heavyweights including post-rock favs Equals and the beyond their years phenom Residual Kid. Singer-songwriter Walker Lukens rounds out the bill. The best part? We have two tickets to giveaway to one of our lucky Red River Noise readers.
The giveaway will be conducted as a raffle on Facebook. Just click LIKE every time you see a link to this post on our Facebook wall. We will pick the winner on Thursday, May 2, the day of the show. The winners will be notified via Facebook email and shared on our Facebook wall before 3 p.m. Good luck!
Red 7 is located at 611 East 7th Street. All ages are welcome. Concert will be on inside stage. Doors open at 9 p.m. Cover is $5 at the door for 21+ or $7 for minors. Visit the Facebook event page here.
