On Saturday, Oct. 27, all are welcome to come together at Mohawk for Freakout Fest. Happening on the spookiest weekend of the year, this epic mini-fest will celebrate the birthdays of Eye in the Sky’s very own Anthony Erickson, the founder of Eye in the Sky, and Vivogig’s co-founder, Tanner Moehle. This day, by no coincidence, also marks the 15 year anniversary of the Flaming Lips’ album, Zaireeka.
In order to honor the Flaming Lips and Wayne Coyne’s Parking Lot Experiments, Freakout Fest will celebrate the anniversary by creating a “Zaireeka Experience”. Eye in the Sky and Vivogig have concocted this experiential event to create interactivity between performers and the audience through lights, dance, and music. This “Zaireeka Experience” will include performances by Woven Feet Dance Troupe headed by Stephanie Chavez, as well as visual art projections by Joao Beira and Sean O’Neill, and sound experimentation from Marcus Lawyer and Reggie O’Farell.
Freakout Fest will also feature performances by the following bands: The Black and White Years, Black Pistol Fire, Shakey Graves, Sundress, Emily Bell, The Sour Notes, New York City Queens, Old Coyote, Fulton Read and The Baker Family. The best part? We have two pairs of tickets to giveaway to a couple of our lucky Red River Noise readers.
We’ll be giving away the tickets on Friday afternoon, Oct. 26, on our Facebook page. All you have to do is click “Like” on the post when you see it on our Facebook page wall to enter your name into our drawing. Yes, this means your name can be entered more than once. We will draw a name and announce the winner by 3 p.m. This giveaway only applies to fans in Central Texas capable of making it to the show. Good luck!
